Sarah Fortner Pierson
"My work, whether it is painting or photography, always seems to be about finding an uncommon view. I paint realistically, but I love presenting my subjects in unconventional ways which emphasize texture, color, and abstract composition. My hope is that the viewer will find something fresh and exciting about the work which kindles their interest in re-examining the world around them. I find the study of nature to be richly satisfying and centering."
Sarah Fortner Pierson grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and received a Bachelor's Degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley. She moved to New York City in 2001 to join Hunter College's Master of Fine Art program. In 2018 Sarah became the Executive Director of the Wallkill River School in Montgomery.
